Hearing aid prices range considerably depending on the technology level and features required.
It is our philosophy at Auckland Hearing that if hearing aid price was not a factor, we would choose the highest technology for nearly every client. This is because the highest level of technology will give the best hearing success in widest range of listening environments.
For that reason our hearing aid pricing is very competitive across the range and especially for mid and high end technology. We want people to have the best technology that their money can buy.
Hearing aid technology
Each hearing aid brand focuses on different areas of technology and have features that work best for specific hearing needs or lifestyles. Some examples of areas brands or specific hearing aid models may be targeted to:
- hearing speech in noise
- sound quality ie music
- coping with extra loud sounds
- synchronising both ears together
- Personalisation
- hearing aid size
- ease of use or connecting with other (wireless) technology - like your iPhone
- power hearing aids - for people severe or profound hearing loss
- or children
When you come for your consultation we will discuss your individual hearing needs and then match the best technology for you. The advantage of being an independent clinic is that we can choose from all of the brands available in New Zealand so we can choose the most appropriate hearing aids for your needs.
Hearing tecnology levels vary in price
The hearing aid prices stated below are the price you would pay for 2 hearing aids (after the $1022 subsidy has been taken off). It assumes that you will be eligible for a government (Ministry of Health) subsidy of $1022. This Ministry of Health Subsidy is available to every New Zealand resident every 6 years.
These hearing aid price categories are very broad and give you a feel for how they are classified. The hearing aid price ranges are large because there is a bit of variation between brands and how products are classified.
Budget
Often these hearing aids are older models. They will be programmed for your hearing loss and will work well to amplify one speaker in a quiet environment. They will help you hear the TV and radio clearer and at a lower volume. These hearing aids have very limited features to help in noisy or complex listening environments.
Essential
Most aids in this range are up to date and look similar to the higher level products. They will help you to hear speakers in quieter environments and small groups.
Mid range
These aids aids have many of the features of the higher end aids. They work well in most listening environments and often have quite a bit of programming flexibility. To meet you individual needs.
Premium Technology
These aids have all the latest technology features that are available for each brand. Each brand specialises in different areas of sound improvement. These aids will give the best sound quality and speech understanding available for each brand.
