Olive oil helps to soften ear wax. Olive oil often helps create a gap between the wax and the side of your ear canal. This may give some relief to the blocked feeling and can make it easier to remove the wax.

Directions for using olive oil:
Lie on your side.  Put the olive oil down your ear canal as deep as possible then massage your ear (by holding a tissue over your ear) to try and get the olive oil to go between the wax and your ear canal. Then wait for about 10 mins. You may have to do this morning and night for 2- 7 days.  Once a gap forms between the wax and your ear canal, your ear may unblock and you may feel a bit better.

This olive oil is in an easy to use 15 ml dropper bottle.

Note: Olive oil may help in relieving blocked hearing and wax removal, but can not totally replace micro-suction.

Pro Series earplugs are custom-made using soft medical-grade silicone.

They have a range of filters which give varying amounts of sound attenuation (reduction) depending on your needs.

The filters can be removed and swapped for other filters in the PRO range for different sound environments or hearing protection needs. The ability to change the filters gives you complete control over your protection with just a single set of ear moulds.

For Musicians

Pro plugs allow musicians to stay within the safe limits of noise while remaining engaged with the performance. The musician earplugs have a flat frequency response, especially for the 10 and 15 dB filters.

For other noise protection

Proplugs can also be used for motorsport and industrial noise. Pro plugs have a vented cavity, which means there is less occlusion, and it is more comfortable to speak while wearing them.

Filters available include the following attenuation levels:

  • 10 dB  – singers and acoustic performers – a subtle.
  • 15 dB – vocalists, orchestral and acoustic musicians.
  • 17 dB – Best suits amplified musicians, DJ’s, vocalists, sound engineers, clubbers and gig-goers (more attenuation in the higher frequencies).
  • 20 dB – some drummers, motorsport and industrial uses.
  • 26 dB – as well as by sound engineers, amplified musicians, drummers and venue staff.
  • 27 dB – Used in extreme industrial environments and motorsports.
  • 31 dB – Tested to the AS/NZS 1270 standards as Class 5. Used in extreme industrial environments.
  • Pro Impulse – The filter gives a constant noise reduction of approximately 15dB; this increases to a maximum of 33dB when in response to a sudden loud noise.

The process of getting your earplugs

We will make you a 30-minute appointment at Auckland Hearing to have ear impressions made.

We make your ear impressions by putting a silicon-based material into your ear canals, which goes hard after about five minutes.

The impressions are sent to the manufacturer to be made into your custom earplugs. It takes about two weeks for the earplugs to be made and sent back to us.

Please phone us on 09 525 0522 or email [email protected] to make an appointment. The appointment to discuss the best earplugs for you and make ear impressions .

Price is per pair of earplugs and includes the impressions.
