I thought I would be difficult to impress…
Mark Rowley: St Heliers -
I first became aware of Auckland Hearing and the services Maree O'Sullivan offered when I took a free hearing test at a mobile lab outside my local supermarket. The results were no surprise but the personal yet professional way Maree explained my particular hearing loss was just the trigger needed to get something done. Further tests and a trial with hearing aids convinced me very quickly that I needed to hear better, and more than that, that the experience with the aids was actually really enjoyable, fully comparable with the very positive results of a cataract procedure I had undergone 18 months earlier. Maree fine-tuned the aids to my own requirements and answered all queries and concerns. Being able to follow and participate fully in a conversation in a crowded noisy environment was a big immediate plus, but daily surprises still delight as well - birds in the distance, a tap dripping, the car radio comfortably audible at half the level previously needed, better traffic awareness when crossing the road, the crunch of gravel or sand underfoot - the list is almost endless. People at my age tend to be hard to impress and surprise but this has been one huge surprise that has been most welcome. Thank you so much, Maree O'Sullivan.
